The Skilled Independent Visa (Subclass 189 Visa) is a points tested permanent residency visa for skilled migrants. This Skilled Visa does not require the sponsorship of an Australian employer and is assessed solely on the skills of a visa applicant.
In order to qualify for a Subclass 189 visa, you would need to:
Your invitation is based on the claims made in your expression of interest (EOI). Your application must achieve at least the score specified in your invitation to apply when assessed against the points test. You must be able to meet these eligibility criteria at the time you are invited to apply for the visa.
If you turn 45 after you submit your EOI, you will not receive an invitation to apply for the visa. If you turn 45 after you receive an invitation, you can still apply for the visa.
You have 60 calendar days to apply for the visa after the invitation.
