The Visitor visa (subclass 600) is used by foreign nationals to travel Australia for tourism or business visitor purposes. The visa may be valid for different periods including up to three (3), six (6) or twelve (12) months.
Generally speaking, Australian Visitor Visas require that you satisfy the following requirements:
To qualify for a Visitor Visa application, you must hold an eligible passport. Applicants who are not eligible to apply for a Visitor Visa online are required to submit a paper application through their nearest Australia immigration office.
In some cases, certain visa holders who are currently in Australia, can apply for a Visitor Visa online to extend their stay; provided they hold a valid visa which does not have condition 8503 attached to it.
You cannot enroll in study courses that are longer than three months. That means you might be able to take some courses but if you would like to enroll in courses longer than three months, you need to apply for a student visa (subclass 500).
